History of the CavaPooChon

In the mid-2000’s, Timshell Farm (Steve and Linda Rogers) were raising Cavachons – puppies from a careful crossing of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Bichon Frise purebreds. The Cavalier mothers are beautiful, loving and so sweet. The Bichons are lively, sparkly, fun and affectionate. Cavachon puppies are wonderful, and our adoptive families really love them.

Then, along came a magnificent little Miniature Poodle named “Spanky” – color bred red coat with white markings. He had a sparkly personality and an incredibly loving heart. After consulting with a reproductive veterinarian in North Dallas that specializes in selective genetics for the best-bred dogs in the world… we held back two of our fabulous Cavachon females and bred them with our Spanky for the first, and only, “Cava-Poo-Chon” puppies! Truly, new little stars were born!

We enjoyed breeding specialty triple-cross Cava-Poo-Chon puppies for several years, delighting many families as word spread. Then, in 2013, our extraordinary Texas professional trainer, Stephen Haynes, was contacted by a pet story writer from API, and she asked him “What’s the dog that never loses it’s cute puppy face?” and Haynes answered, “oh, that’s easy – that’s the CavaPooChon from Steve and Linda Rogers at Timshell Farm!” The story ran in newspapers world-wide, and three of our puppies were special guests on The Today Show in 2013.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are the epitome of elegance and affection. They're gentle, loving, and friendly dogs, often known for their warm disposition and natural charm. These small, graceful dogs are equally happy curled up on a cozy lap or joining their owners on adventures. Known for their adaptability, Cavaliers are as content in a bustling family home as they are with a single owner. They thrive on human companionship and often form deep bonds with their families. Their sweet and sociable nature makes them excellent pets for children and other animals, as they're rarely aggressive or overly timid. Their intelligence and eagerness to please make training relatively easy, though they sometimes display a playful mischievous side that keeps life interesting. Cavaliers also have a calm demeanor, which, paired with their affectionate personality, makes them excellent therapy dogs. Physically, they're distinguished by their silky coats, long ears, and expressive eyes that give them a timelessly regal appearance. Their nature is as beautiful as their appearance—making them truly irresistible.

Miniature Poodle

Miniature Poodles are intelligent, lively, and highly versatile dogs. They're known for their elegant appearance and their remarkable combination of athleticism and grace. As a smaller version of the Standard Poodle, they retain all the charm and characteristics of their larger counterparts but in a more compact size. Nature-wise, Miniature Poodles are incredibly smart and eager to learn, making them one of the most trainable breeds. They're often quick to pick up tricks, commands, and even advanced training like agility or obedience sports. Despite their refined look, they love to play and have a fun, mischievous streak, making them entertaining companions. They form strong bonds with their families and thrive on attention, often seeking to be the center of activity. Their sensitive and affectionate nature means they can be quite in tune with their owners’ emotions, making them wonderful companions for those seeking an empathetic pet. With their hypoallergenic, curly coats and lively personality, Miniature Poodles can adapt well to different living situations, whether in a bustling city or a quiet countryside.

Bichon Frise

Bichon Frises are affectionate, cheerful, and full of charm—often described as little bundles of joy. They're small, sturdy dogs with fluffy, hypoallergenic coats thatgive them their signature cloud like appearance. Their playful personality and natural curiosity make them delightful companions, especially for families, singles, or seniors. These dogs are highly sociable, thriving on human interaction and bonding closely with their owners. They have a gentle and happy disposition, often being friendly not only to their families but also to strangers, other dogs, and pets. Their intelligence and eagerness to please make them trainable, though they sometimes exhibit a bit of stubbornness—a trait that only adds to their character. Bichons are active but not overly demanding, making them adaptable to various lifestyles. They enjoy play-time, short walks, and even lap snuggles, making them both fun and relaxing companions. Their lively nature combined with their tender affection ensures they're always ready to brighten your day.
